What can I do to be more eco-friendly with my recycled Christmas cards?

Choosing Recycled Christmas Cards

Not all recycled Christmas cards are created equal; some are more “green” than others. Here are some tips on what to look for when buying recycled Christmas cards:

  • The recycled Christmas cards should contain either post-consumer or pre-consumer materials from leftover paper manufacturing plants or recycled paper products.
  • Look for recycled Christmas cards with a minimum of 30% post-consumer content for uncoated printing and writing paper, and a minimum of 10% post-consumer content for coated papers.
  • Check if recycled Christmas cards are processed without chlorine and that the inks used have also been certified as environmentally friendly.
  • Look for recycled Christmas cards that come from companies who may participate in other environmentally friendly activities.

An added benefit of buying recycled Christmas cards is that it encourages manufacturers to make available even more recycled products in the future.
